Y'All Come

Here at BUC we have a gospel band. The Olde Tyme Gospel Band was formed 8 years ago. There are now nine members who practice every Tuesday night. On the last Sunday of every month they provide the music for the early service and on top of that they have a very special ministry. Once a month they (More)

Upcoming Bible Study - God's Grace

St. Thomas’ Anglican Church
BIBLE STUDY
GOD’S GRACE

St. Thomas’ is pleased to offer, commencing January 29, 2013 a weekly Bible Study on the topic of God’s Grace.

This study is a stand-alone part of the Christianity Basics course that we began early last year. It will be presented at a level that can be understood by those who consider themselves “novices” as well as by those who are more advanced in their understanding of the Bible. Everyone, therefore, is most welcome to join us in one of the 3 sessions held each week at the church, usually in Browning Hall and occasionally in Andrew Forest room.

Please note the times of the sessions are:

  • Tuesday 2 to 3 pm
  • Wednesday 2 to 3 pm
  • Wednesday 7 to 8 pm

The same material will be covered at each of the sessions allowing you to accommodate changes in your personal schedule and not miss attending. Please bring your Bible if you have one. Bibles will be available for reference if you do not yet own one.

Come and experience the joy in studying God’s Word in a setting that is gentle yet stimulating, informative but not intimidating, and light-hearted yet serious!

Freedom Singers Concert

Freedom Singers

FREEDOM SINGERS

The Freedom Singers began their music ministry when two young men, Simon and Wesley, arrived in Canada as stow-a-ways. In Romania, their native land, at that time, all young men, upon completing High School, were forced to join the army. Being conscientious Christians, they could not join the army because freedom of worship was totally restricted. Refusing to join would result in several years of imprisonment and persecution. Determined to escape to freedom, Simon and Wesley faced danger and hardship fleeing from Romania to Italy.

But their nightmare began in earnest when they crawled into a container full of ceramic tiles that was headed across the ocean. Baking in the heat for days in a shipyard, surviving a tremendous storm at sea, suffering from lack of oxygen, and the agony of thirst, Simon and Wesley both came close to death. It is only by God's grace that Simon and Wesley are here today - alive.

After arriving in Kelowna, B.C., in July of 1999, it was soon learned that Simon and Wesley loved to sing. They blended their voices in duets in many Churches. They travel now as a trio since Stefan, Simon's brother, joined them in 2006. The name "Freedom Singers" is most appropriate considering the backgrounds of Simon and Wesley and what they endured to be able to worship their God in freedom and peace.

"Freedom Singers" share their music and testimony in the hope that those who listen will be spiritually enriched. They give praise to God for His guidance and abundant Grace. They have been blessed to share the stage with the Gaithers, the Booth Brothers, Legacy 5, Triumphant Quartet, Greater Vision and others. They recently were guests on the latest Gaither Homecoming Concert Series and they have been on stage many times at the Red Deer Gospel Music Celebration and at NQC (National Quartet Convention) in Kentucky. You may have recently seen them as guests on CBC's Dragons Den.  And, on Thursday, September 27th you will be able to see them live as they will be appearing at Pinegrove Fellowship Baptist Church.
